Federal Releases Linked to Glades
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is the custody and release-record system for people who served federal prison sentences in BOP custody. Its locator covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 to the present. A Glades County connection may come from an arrest, court matter, temporary local placement, family address, or later federal sentence, but only the BOP custody history belongs in the BOP locator.
A person who leaves the Glades County Detention Center is not automatically a federal release. The county jail may have released the person on bond, completed a local sentence, transferred the person to another county, delivered the person to FDC, handed the person to ICE, or housed a federal pretrial detainee for another authority. Each movement must be followed in the receiving system.
| Custody type | Correct public route | What departure means |
|---|---|---|
| BOP sentenced custody | BOP Inmate Locator | Released or not in BOP custody ends the Bureau custody shown, not every possible legal restraint. |
| USMS federal pretrial custody | Federal court docket and order | Release, acquittal, or delivery to BOP depends on the court and custody movement. |
| ICE immigration custody | ICE ODLS | In-custody or recent not-in-custody status concerns ICE, not BOP. |
| Glades County jail | GCSO SmartWEB | The timestamp records departure from GCSO custody only. |
| Florida state prison | FDC Offender Search | The state record tracks FDC custody and supervision, not federal imprisonment. |
Note: A Glades County arrest does not create a BOP record unless the person later enters Federal Bureau of Prisons custody.
Search Glades Federal Release Records
The official BOP Inmate Locator offers two routes. Search by number when a BOP Register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number is known. Otherwise search by name and use age, race, and sex refinements to narrow the result. The register number is the strongest public key in a BOP result and should be kept with any federal court case number.
- Open the BOP Inmate Locator and choose number search when a federal identifier is available.
- Enter the BOP Register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number in the matching field.
- For a name search, enter the full name and refine with age, race, or sex as needed.
- Compare the returned name, register number, age, race, and sex before selecting a match.
- Read the displayed release date, location, and exact custody wording.
- Check the federal court record if the result does not explain supervision, transfer, or the legal release order.
A no-result is not proof that no federal matter existed. The person may have been a federal pretrial detainee under USMS authority without entering BOP, may fall outside the locator's stated time coverage, or may be searched under a different form of the name. Start by confirming the custody agency rather than forcing a county booking into the BOP database.
Read Glades Federal Release Status
BOP results show the person's name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody,” paired with no current facility, means the person is no longer held by the Bureau. It does not prove unrestricted return to the community. Another agency may hold the person, and federal supervised release or parole may continue after prison custody.
| BOP field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Name | Begin the match but do not rely on it alone. |
| Register number | Use as the main BOP identity key and with federal court inquiries. |
| Age, race, and sex | Compare identity fields when names are shared or similar. |
| Release date | Read as the Bureau's displayed date and verify near the event. |
| Location | A current facility supports BOP custody; no facility can accompany a released status. |
| Custody wording | Keep the exact “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” language rather than rewriting its scope. |
BOP warns that First Step Act calculations can make a displayed date temporarily out of date. A future date should therefore be rechecked. After release, pair the past date and custody wording with the court docket when the sentence, order, or supervision terms matter.
BOP Release Locator and Contact
The research identifies the locator as the public BOP release route but does not provide a specific Bureau records-office address, telephone number, or office schedule for this Glades County system page. None should be invented. Use the official locator and the register number first. Then use the federal court record or the appropriate BOP channel shown on the official site for a question the locator cannot answer.

Confirm Glades Federal Release Orders
The federal court docket supplies the legal context that the BOP result may not show. A judgment identifies the sentence. Later orders can address release, sentence changes, or supervision. A BOP date records the Bureau's custody information, while the docket explains the court action. Neither should be silently substituted for the other.
When the locator says released, record the name, register number, date, and lack of a current BOP facility. Then locate the correct federal case and compare the judgment and later orders. If supervised release follows, leaving prison does not end federal court control. “Supervised release” is a court-ordered term in the community after imprisonment, distinct from BOP confinement.
If the person was never sentenced to BOP, the federal docket may be the main public path. A pretrial release order can end USMS custody without creating BOP release history. The Glades County released-inmate workflow helps separate that federal branch from GCSO, FDC, and ICE records.
USMS Federal Release Record Limits
The United States Marshals Service holds federal pretrial prisoners from court-ordered custody until acquittal, release, or delivery to BOP. USMS owns no detention facilities and often uses local, state, or private beds. A person can therefore appear at a local jail while remaining in federal pretrial custody.
No public USMS historical release locator equivalent to BOP was found. USMS policy also generally does not provide prisoner photographs or arrival and departure times to the public. A person disappearing from a GCSO-facing roster does not create a searchable USMS release record. Use the federal court order and docket, then follow BOP only if a conviction and transfer put the person into Bureau custody.
A county timestamp may still help establish when GCSO's role ended, but it cannot prove the federal legal event. Keep the local booking number, federal case number, and BOP register number as separate identifiers.
Note: USMS has no public historical release locator comparable to BOP, so a federal pretrial release requires a docket and order check.
Glades ICE and BOP Differences
ICE detention is not BOP imprisonment. ICE ODLS uses an A-number and country of birth or exact biographical details to report current detention and certain recent releases. BOP uses federal prison identifiers or a name search to report Bureau custody and release data. A person may have records in both systems at different times, but one locator does not establish the other's status.
Glades County makes this distinction important because the county detention center houses ICE detainees. A GCSO release can be an immigration handoff. That movement should be followed in ODLS, not BOP, unless there is separate evidence of a federal prison sentence. Likewise, a BOP “Released” result does not prove the person is outside ICE or another agency's custody.
The Glades County ICE detention record path gives the ODLS search and federal immigration contact route. Keep it separate from the BOP release search even when the same person has both an A-number and a BOP register number.
Glades Federal Custody Channel Sweep
No separate Glades-specific BOP facility or release office was documented. The defensible search is a custody-channel sweep. Start with GCSO SmartWEB for a local booking. Use the federal court docket for pretrial authority and release orders. Use BOP only after federal prison custody is established. Use ODLS for immigration detention, and use FDC for Florida state prison.
This order prevents two common errors. The first is treating departure from Glades County jail as a BOP release. The second is treating “Not in BOP Custody” as proof that no other agency holds the person. The locator answers only the Bureau question. The court and other agency records supply the rest of the custody chain.
For a clean record trail, save the exact status, search date, release date, register number, and court case number. Recheck a future date because federal sentence calculations can change. When the result becomes historical, preserve the past date and verify any next supervision or custody through the office responsible for it.
